Sam Brusco leads the team at Brusco Design & Renovation.  He decided to make renovations his full-time profession several years ago.  Impressed with his skills and sincerity, his clients and their friends have been continually asking Sam to do bigger and more complex projects.   He now designs, plans, manages and personally works on 5- and 6-figure home renovation projects from beginning to end with a crew of professionals.

In 2010, Sam Brusco was asked to write a monthly column for Rhode Island Home & Design Magazine.

Little known facts about Sam Brusco are that he trains dogs and sings Italian opera.   He has performed in several musicals, winning an award in the process. In fact, Sam was cast in the starring role in the Rhode Island production of the musical "Nine", in May 2010. "Nine" is the musical version of the great Italian film director Federico Fellini's "8 ½".  Unfortunately, the production was canceled.

In January, 2008, to promote public safety and to educate consumers, Sam Brusco began giving presentations on how homeowners could avoid becoming a renovation horror story with his seminars How to Hire ANY Contractor and How to Avoid a Renovation Horror.

The National Association of Home Builders’ Certified Green Professional™ designation recognizes builders and remodelers who incorporate green building principles into homes— without driving up the cost of construction. Classwork leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods.

A green builder pays attention to energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, the use of sustainable or repurposed/recycled products, and protecting indoor air quality.  According to the US Green Building Council, of which Brusco is a member, the heating and cooling of buildings accounts for almost half of all greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S.

Brusco Design & Renovation has been using the best insulating products appropriate for the task, such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and expanding insulating foam, or something as simple as caulk, to reduce heating and cooling costs for our clients, which in turn reduces environmental impact.  We recycle waste and use existing materials such as doors, windows, moldings that are already present in the home.  This practice lowers costs for the client by using what they already have.  Environmentally speaking, it reduces waste and the need to make and ship new products.  The wood products (doors and moldings) already match the existing architecture of the home, so it's a win-win-win situation.  Brusco Design & Renovation uses sustainable, low environmental impact products during renovations, such as low-VOC paints and renewable products.  Click here to read more about our latest green project.

This is not just wheel chair ramps and grab bars.  It's stylish design elements that you wouldn't realize are also present to improve safety for all ages.

Now that Sam Brusco has been awarded the designation of Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist, he is developing a seminar called Staying in Your Own Home after 65 -- maintaining a safe, active and independent lifestyle.  The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in collaboration with the AARP developed the Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) program.  According to the AARP, older homeowners overwhelmingly prefer to continue living in a familiar environment, which means living in their own home safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of age or ability level. Brusco Design & Renovation is also a member of NAHB's 50+ Housing Council and the National Aging in Place Council Rhode Island Chapter. This education and experience allows Brusco Design & Renovation to make your house a home for a lifetime, whether you are a younger person planning to raise children, or if you have older friends or family who visit.  We can also help create safe, one-level living for your parents, so that they can remain in their own home in their neighborhood for as long as possible.
