A green builder pays attention to energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, the use of sustainable or repurposed/recycled products, and protecting indoor air quality. According to the US Green Building Council, of which Brusco is a member, the heating and cooling of buildings accounts for almost half of all greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. Brusco Design & Renovation has been using the best insulating products appropriate for the task, such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and expanding insulating foam, or something as simple as caulk, to reduce heating and cooling costs for our clients, which in turn reduces environmental impact. We recycle waste and use existing materials such as doors, windows, moldings that are already present in the home. This practice lowers costs for the client by using what they already have. Environmentally speaking, it reduces waste and the need to make and ship new products. The wood products (doors and moldings) already match the existing architecture of the home, so it's a win-win-win situation. Brusco Design & Renovation uses sustainable, low environmental impact products during renovations, such as low-VOC paints and renewable products.
