"aging-in-place" project was featured in Rhode
Island Monthly's Home Design Magazine in 2012 as
an example of an aging-in-place home created by a National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB) / AARP Certified Aging-in-Place
Specialist (CAPS) professional remodeler, Sam Brusco.

This
couple has owned their home near Sandy Lane in Warwick for almost
30 years. Since they retired and since the birth of their granddaughter,
they have wanted to make this house their forever-home. Brusco
Design & Renovation created a comfortable & safe one-floor-living
home for them.
Objectives:
create
a one floor living environment
with the laundry on the first floor
using Universal Design principles
- expand
the home by creating a new family
room in the garage that is only used for storage (the truck
didn't even fit)
- renovate
the kitchen and open the wall to the front room
- turn
that front room into the new
dining room so that family & friends can attend holiday
dinners here
- make
access to the back yard and deck
easier
